When the weekend finally hits, it becomes rather tempting for me to gorge myself. I’ve spent the whole week being healthy and hitting the gym every day and I have earned my Pizza Hut garlic knots! Then, the weekend leaves and I am left feeling bloated, heavy and slightly distanced from my goals. The weekend gives me a break from the meals I’ve prepped all week. But, if I don’t have a plan for my weekend meals, I am going to have a ‘cheat weekend’, instead of a ‘cheat meal’. Giles and I have learned to make these meals work for us. We make one meal at home and eat out for the other. We also have one meal with lower carbs, which gives more flexibility for the meal we eat out.
There are a few favorites of ours that I would like to share. Let me know if you have any hidden gems for healthy restaurants!
Home Meal
For the meal we eat at home, we usually make a large salad with a protein. These are incredibly fast to make and keep those carbs available. We really enjoy the salad kits, with dressing and toppings included.
Since the weekends are always filled with errands, this is a great option. Don’t be fooled by the salads– they are delicious! They have these kits at Wal-Mart, Target and Kroger, so you shouldn’t have a problem finding them. This specific brand has several options, so you don’t have to get ‘bored’ of the same type.
Weekend Restaurants
I’ll share with you guys on a weekly basis the places we try and the meals we get but I wanted to share an amazing option. This restaurant is not that dense, yet. However, if it is anywhere near you, you have got to try it out. Luna Grill.
My absolute favorite dish is the kabob plate. They give you a Greek salad, with the house dressing, a massive kabob, with a very generous portion of rice. In the past, we have gone to Zoe’s Kitchen, but the meat at Luna Grill is much more tender.
Tomorrow, I’ll share with you how we integrate outdoors into our caloric burning and our community time. Please comment below with any suggestions you might have on restaurants!
