Speaking as a teacher, the end of the spring semester can quickly get busy and overwhelming, which I’m sure the rest of you ladies can understand. For all the school events and work days; the interviews and the shred of social life, my gym life takes another step towards nonexistence. The end of summer can spread us quite thin… not literally, though (how unfortunate for us!).
Now that the school semester is behind us, we can get our summer started off right. For me, this means getting back in the habit of running and with the warmth of summer, I’ll be enjoying the fresh air with these runs.
A month out of the game, and running means that I need to start at square one, so my running plan starts off with a walking/jogging interval and slowly builds to a light run for 30 minutes straight.
A few things to note:
- It’s crucial to be consistent, since discipline in jogging/running means you won’t be in danger of shin splints
- Keep the walking at a brisk pace, but keep the jogging and running light. At the end of this month, you’ll be able to lightly run for 30 minutes straight and from there, you can work on increasing your time/pace much more easily
- Try to keep your time outside at the same time every day, since the temperature outside and your energy levels and eating schedule can also affect your run
